CO₂-compensation for business trips of Fast Lane/ iTLS employees and customers in the DACH region
In cooperation with Fast Lane iTLS plants 5,600 rain forest trees in Costa Rica
At Fast Lane/ iTLS, our CO₂ footprint is a significant issue for us, and since 2019 we have been supporting various reforestations in Costa Rica, adjacent to the Cabo Blanco Absolute Natural Reserve, a nature reserve on the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula in the province of Puntarenas.
In 2020, lockdowns and mandates to work from home have led to a situation in which a total of around 75 percent of Fast Lane's business trips by employees and customers in the DACH region had to be cancelled.
This year, the COVID-19 pandemic has reduced CO₂ emissions worldwide. Nevertheless, we again wanted to offset the CO₂ emissions caused by the remaining business trips with a sustainable reforestation project in Costa Rica.
With the active help of children from various smaller schools in the region, a total of 5,600 registered trees were planted in 2020, the long-term existence of which is assured.
Many local school classes are being sensitized to sustainable climate protection within the framework of the project and are getting involved.
We are planning further reforestation projects for 2021.
