PowerMax Family Administration – Core Features (PMFACF)

 

Course Overview

This course focuses on storage provisioning, port management, device creation, and service level based storage allocation to hosts using Unisphere for PowerMax and Solutions Enabler on PowerMax 2500, 8500, 2000 and 8000 arrays. The course covers TimeFinder SnapVX and Clone operations. Lastly, the course includes managing virtual systems in a PowerMax environment, and the monitoring and workload planning for provisioning additional storage to arrays.

Who should attend

This course is intended for Dell employees, partners, and customers responsible for performing remote replication on PowerMax arrays.

Prerequisites

To successfully complete the course, students must have an understanding of:

  • PowerMax storage arrays
  • Windows OS and virtual storage environments - ESXi, VMware vCenter and vSphere Client
  • Unisphere for PowerMax and Solutions Enabler
  • Dell website access

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Perform storage provisioning operations – storage, port and initiator groups creation and storage allocation to hosts
  • Perform service levels and storage groups management.
  • Perform TimeFinder SnapVX and Clone operations.
  • Monitor virtual environments using Unisphere for PowerMax
  • Perform storage-related tasks using Dell Virtual Storage Integrator (VSI)
  • Perform monitoring of storage environment.
  • Perform workload planning and performance impact of added capacity to an array.
